Opal Triplets are very thin pieces of precious opal cemented to a base of common opal or other rock and capped with quartz to protect the surface from abrasion. Very thin brilliant color bands of opal are used, hence opal triplets can display beautiful colors of red, green, blue, orange, purple in all types of patterns. Opal triplets are the most inexpensive way to purchase very bright colored opal for a fraction of the cost of a solid opal. |
